The 2016 edition of the Rogers Cup presented by National Bank has descended once again upon Montréal. From July 22 to 31, the best female tennis players will be competing at Uniprix Stadium. Crowds of tennis lovers will be heading to Villeray to watch the games and since you might want to know where to fuel up while you’re in this trendy part of town, below is a list of some of our favourite restaurants and watering holes.
Huis Clos: If you’re an oyster lover, then this is the spot for you. Huit Clos also serves classic fare that go well with their extensive beer, cocktail and wine menus.
Bistro L’Enchanteur has become somewhat of a neighbourhood institution for the past 20 years. Frequented by the locals, it serves a bistro menu with some Moroccan dishes inspired by the owner’s background. Open for brunch, lunch and dinner.

Miss Villeray: a neighborhood bar since the 1960s, Miss Villeray is a great spot to grab a drink and a bite and get to know some of the locals.
Etoh Brasserie is an artisanal micro-brewery with a large variety of beers on its menu.
Tapeo is a great neighbourhood restaurant that also happens to be one of the best restaurants in Montréal. The delectable authentic Spanish tapas and the excellent and friendly service make Tapeo a great spot to have dinner. Reservations are recommended.
Mesón: By the owners of Tapeo comes Mesón, a casual neighbourhood bistro serving Spanish-inspired comfort food in a gorgeous decor. Whether you decide to dinner or weekend brunch, this spot will surely surprise and satisfy you. Reservations are recommended.
Raphaël Bistrot dishes out a bistro-inspired cuisine, which includes burgers and tartares as well as pizza and pasta. Take advantage of their $21 menu after 9pm.

Dinette Triple Crown takes care of all your Southern comfort food needs. Get some of the best fried chicken and brisket in town to go and enjoy it in the park across the street or at Jarry Park before heading to your game.
Le Petit Alep serves an authentic Syrian cuisine from Aleppo. Their food is fresh and full of flavour. Try the fattoush salad, the spicy kebab terbialy or a delicious mazza spread. [Closed from July 31st to August 15th for vacations]

If the temperatures are soaring and you’re in the mood for some ice cream, head to Les Givrés on De Castelnau Street or Havre aux glaces at the Jean-Talon Market. For great frozen custard, the take away at Pizzeria Gema is always a good idea (they also serve some of the best pizza in Montréal). For cake and pastry lovers, head to Mlles Gâteaux or Le Pain dans les voiles to satisfy that sweet tooth.
Fuel up!
Café Larue: Whether you’re arriving in Villeray via the Jarry, Jean-Talon or De Castelnau metro stations, there is a café Larue near by to keep you well caffeinated throughout the day.
Café Vito: An Italian-style café located a block east of Parc Jarry, Vito will make you feel like you’re part of the extended family while serving you an excellent espresso.
Café Ferlucci: A tiny but mighty café with great iced coffee and sandwiches.

Adventure further!
Trilogie: walk or take the 55 bus north on St Laurent to get to this small and charming restaurant serving the best dumplings in town. They’re open weekdays from 11am to 3pm so it’s the perfect spot for a lunch or a snack between games.
Restaurant Gus: a little steakhouse serving some of the best meat and seafood, Restaurant Gus is located on trendy Beaubien Street, in the heart of Petite Patrie, another trendy Montréal neighbourhood.
Cul-Sec: an excellent wine bar where you can buy bottles of natural or biodynamic wine to go or to drink on site accompanied by delicious food in a great ambiance.
PS: don’t forget to visit the Jean-Talon Market while you’re in the neighbourhood; it’s an absolute mecca for all food lovers!
